TABERNACLES
SAINT JOHN NEUMANN
I recently discovered a shrine to St. John Neumann on the grounds of St. Alphonsus Liguori Church in the little town of Peru, Ohio (mailing address is Norwalk, Ohio). I've traveled this route many times on my way to Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue, Ohio and never knew this shrine and church existed. This church is located within the Diocese of Toledo. St. John Neumann lived at this parish for a short period of time and baptized three babies-the baptismal record of these three children are located in the historic cabin. I hope you will be able to make the journey to this little shrine.

PRAYER FOR HIS INTERCESSION O Saint John Neumann, your ardent desire of bringing all souls to Christ impelled you to leave home and country; teach us to live worthily in the spirit of our Baptism which makes us all children of the one Heavenly Father and brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ, the first-born of the family of God. Obtain for us that complete dedication in the service of the needy, the weak, the afflicted and the abandoned which so characterized your life. Help us to walk perseveringly in the difficult and, at times, painful paths of duty, strengthened by the Body and Blood of our Redeemer and under the watchful protection of Mary our Mother. May death still find us on the sure road to our Father's House with the light of living Faith in our hearts. Amen. Peace be with you! Rosemarie, OCDS

Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia in Nashville
On a recent trip to Nashville, I made my way to the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. It was a beautiful and grace-filled visit. I want to thank Sr. Mary Emily (Vocation Director) for her warm welcome and hospitality. It was great to find out that she is a fellow Ohioan and is from a town not far from where I grew up!
The sisters were having adoration of the Blessed Sacrament the day I visited. I am grateful to have been able to pray in the company of the sisters for a very special intention.
Thank you, Sister Mary Emily, for your most gracious hospitality. May God bless you and your community!
Please visit their beautiful website:

And don't forget to read the wonderful vocation stories under "Sister Profiles."

Tabernacle of the Week
Sorrowful Mother Shrine
Bellevue, OhioThe tabernacle was first intended for the reservation of the Eucharist in a worthy place so that it could be brought to the sick and those absent, outside of Mass. As faith in the real presence of Christ in his Eucharist deepened, the Church became conscious of the meaning of silent adoration of the Lord present under the Eucharistic species. It is for this reason that the tabernacle should be located in an especially worthy place in the church and should be constructed in such a way that it emphasizes and manifests the truth of the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
Catechism #1379

Grant, we beg you, O Lord, that the Blessed Virgin Mary your Mother, may intercede for us at the throne of your mercy, now and at the hour of our death, whose most holy soul was pierced with the sword of grief in the hour of your own passion, through you, Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns one God world without end. Amen.
Peace be with you!
