Holy Saturday

Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

MOST HOLY and afflicted Virgin,

Queen of Martyrs,
You stood beneath the Cross,
Witnessing the agony of your dying Son.
Look down with a mother’s tenderness
And have pity on me,
Who kneels before you to venerate your
Sufferings and to place my request
With filial confidence in the sanctuary
Of your wounded heart.
Present them, I beseech you,
On my behalf, to Jesus Christ,
Through the merits of his own
Most sacred Passion and Death,
Together with your sufferings
At the foot of the Cross;
And through the united efficacy of both,
Obtain the grant of my present petition.
To whom shall I have recourse
In my wants and miseries
If not to you, O Mother of Mercy,
Who, having so deeply drunk
Of the chalice of your Son,
An console with the sorrows
Of those who still sigh in the land of exile?

O Holy Mary,
Whose soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow
At the sight of the Passion
Of your Divine Son,
Intercede for me and obtain for me from Jesus
(mention the request)
If it be for His Honor and Glory
And the good of my soul.
Amen.

GOOD FRIDAY

The Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me

Body of Christ, save me

Blood of Christ, inebriate me

Water from Christ's side, wash me

Passion of Christ, strengthen me

O good Jesus, hear me

Within Thy wounds hide me

Suffer me not to be separated from Thee

From the malicious enemy defend me

In the hour of my death call me

And bid me come unto Thee

That I may praise Thee with Thy saints

and with Thy angels

Forever and ever

Amen.

Peace be with you!

Holy Thursday

HOLY THURSDAY
BIRTHDAY OF THE PRIESTHOOD OF JESUS CHRIST
INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST

Christ: If you had the purity of an Angel and the holiness of St. John the Baptist, you would not be worthy to receive or to touch this holy Sacrament. No man has merited to be able to consecrate and touch the Sacrament of Christ, or to receive the Bread of Angels as his food.
This is a tremendous mystery, and great is the dignity conferred on priests, which is not granted to the Angels. For only priests, validly ordained in the Church, have this power of offering Holy Mass and consecrating the Body of Christ.
(Imitation of Christ)

Peace be with you!

Wednesday of Holy Week

Carmelite Quote
Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity

I believe that the people who are the really happy ones in this world are those who have enough contempt and forgetfulness of self to choose the cross as their portion!

What marvelous peace we have
when we find our joy in suffering!

(St. Peter in Chains)

'By means of my physical sufferings I am helping to complete what still remains of Christ's sufferings on behalf of his body, the church' (Colossians 1:24)

(Beheading of St. Paul)
This is what happiness is for St. Paul!

I keep thinking about this, and I must confess that I have a deep inner joy in thinking that God has chosen me to share in Christ's passion, and that this road to Calvary that I walk each day is becoming more and more the path to heaven!

Tuesday of Holy Week

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness.
In your compassion blot out my offense.
O wash me more and more from my guilt
and cleanse me from my sin.

My offenses truly I know them;
my sin is always before me.
Against you, you alone, have I sinned;
what is evil in your sight I have done.

That you may be justified
when you give sentence
and be without reproach when you judge,
O see, in guilt I was born,
a sinner was I conceived.

Indeed you love truth in the heart;
then in the secret of my heart
teach me wisdom.

O purify me, then I shall be clean;
O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear rejoicing and gladness
that the bones you have crushed may revive.
From my sins turn away your face
and blot out all my guilt.

A pure heart create for me, O God,
put a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help;
with a spirit of fervor sustain me,
that I may teach transgressors your ways
and sinners may return to you.

O rescue me, God, my helper,
and my tongue shall ring out your goodness.
O Lord, open my lips
and my mouth shall declare your praise.

For in sacrifice you take no delight,
burnt offering from me you would refuse;
my sacrifice, a contrite spirit,
a humbled, contrite heart you will not spurn.

In your goodness, show favor to zion;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with lawful sacrifice,
(burnt offerings wholly consumed),
then you will be offered young bulls on your altar.

Peace be with you!
