SATURDAY OF OUR LADY

Our Lady's words to St. Bernadette: "I am the Immaculate Conception."

When Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta received permission to start her Order, the Missionaries of Charity, she began to experience a great spiritual darkness.

Here is an excerpt from 33 Day to Morning Glory ( A Do-It-Yourself Retreat In Preparation for Marian Consecration)
by Michael E. Gaitley, MIC:

From the beginning of this new congregation, Mother Teresa began to experience "such terrible darkness" in her soul "as if everything was dead." At times, it seemed unbearable, and she frequently found herself on the brink of despair. In 1961, she received a light in this darkness. After a conversation with a holy priest, she realized that her painful longing was actually a share in the thirst of Jesus: "For the first time in this 11 years--I have come to love the darkness.--For I believe now that it is a part, a very, very small part of Jesus' darkness and pain on earth. Teresa's experience of darkness and painful longing continued to the end of her life. She found the strength to persevere because, as her spiritual director put it, she realized that the darkness was actually a "mysterious link" that united her to the Heart of Jesus.

Saturday of Our lady

PRAYER TO THE
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

O most Holy Virgin, who was pleasing to the Lord and became His mother, immaculate in body and spirit, in faith and in love, look kindly on me as I implore your powerful intercession. O most Holy Mother, who by your blessed Immaculate Conception, from the first moment of your conception did crush the head of the enemy, receive our prayers as we implore you to present at the throne of God the favor we now request...

(State your intention here...)

O Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your Divine Son while upon this earth; you have the same influence now in heaven. Pray for us and obtain for us from him the granting of my petition if it be the Divine Will.

Amen.

Peace be with you!

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

On March 25, 1858, during the night, Bernadette felt she was being "called" again. At five in the morning she went to the grotto. Three times she asked the Lady her name Please, Mademoiselle, would you be so kind as to tell me who you are?" But all she received in reply was a smile. She tried again: this time Aquero clasped her hands together and, lifting her eyes heavenwards, said in patois, "Que soy era Immaculada Councepciou" ( I am the Immaculate Conception). Bernadette went directly to see Fr. Peyramale. "Aquero said, "I am the Immaculate Conception!"

Saturday of Our Lady

Litany of Loreto
Today's Title:
Queen Conceived Without Original Sin

She is a reflection of eternal light, spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness. (Wisdom7:27)

The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.
Pope Pius IX, proclamation on the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, 1854.

On the feast of the Annunciation, March 25, 1858 Our Lady appeared to Bernadette. "Mademoiselle, would you please be kind enough to tell me who you are." At the fourth request, the Lady became serious, stopped smiling, slipped her rosary on her right arm, and with her hands joined she raised her eyes to heaven and said:
"I am the Immaculate Conception."
